December 2, 2008

Dear Parent,

We here at St. Peter’s hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving Break.  Now back to work for teachers and students to finish the 1st Semester which ends December 19th.  (The school year is half over at that point.)

A lot of things are happening now also.  The girls’ basketball team played last night at Galena and play at Lamar Thursday at 6:00 p.m. (No bus available for this game.)  There is NO SCHOOL Monday, December 8th, but the basketball girls travel to Pierce City (public school) to play at 6:00 p.m. that day. (No bus available for this game either.)

Boy’s basketball open gym will be Wednesday, (December 3rd) from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.  Boys who plan to play basketball need to be aware that with the first semester ending on December 19th and grades being mailed out the week of January 5th, grades received for the second quarter will determine if you play.  Most games are played in January thus it is very important that grades are not deficient.

St. Peter’s Outreach House is having their annual Christmas Toy Drive.  We have helped in the past and I know the children getting the toys are very appreciative.  If your student wishes to participate please bring an unwrapped toy ($1-$5 range) to school.  Each student bringing a toy or toys will receive ONE dress down certificate.

Last chance to buy a 2008 St. Peter’s t-shirt or hoodies!  Order forms were handed out last week and are due this Thursday, the 4th.

History Day meeting will be held in Mrs. Durbin’s room Thursday from 3:30 to 4:00.

Next week we will draw for Secret Santas.  If your student wants to participate, they will fill out an information form in their home room.  Then they will draw a name that they will buy for.  They are to bring their first gift ($1 - $2) next Friday, the 12th.  Then they will bring a small gift ($1 - $2) on Monday through Wednesday of the next week.  Candy can be given only one time.  STUCO will be selling Homework Passes for $2.00 that can be purchased for one gift.  Then on Friday they will bring a large gift ($8 - $10) and will present it to their person during our Mixer.  Students do not have to participate, however, if they choose to do so, please make sure they understand they will be bringing five gifts and they need to keep their commitment.  Also, please stress to them that it is called SECRET Santa for a reason!

The yearbook staff needs baby photos of the 8th grade students.  Please give them to Mrs. Durbin with your name on the back.  The photos will be returned.

Sincerely,

Greg Emory
