Environment
St. Peter's provides a safe, caring, family atmosphere which promotes individual development. The school and parents share concerns and work together toward common goals to encourage potential, recognize achievement, and exact discipline.
Academic Formation
A strong curriculum, which emphasizes the basics, encourages critical thinking skills. Students also explore the areas of music, art and drama, foreign languages, and computers.
Character Development
All students receive morals and values training in a Christian environment. The religious education program promotes personal self-discovery and faith development. Emphasis is placed on the development of self discipline and civic responsibility. Community service projects are an integral part of the program.
Extra-curricular activities provide opportunity for self-expression and leadership development. Students are encouraged to become involved in Student Council activities, homeroom and class projects, fine arts presentations, and academic and athletic competitions.
Faculty and Staff
The certified teachers and professional staff are dedicated to help each student attain his/her full potential. The small size and pupil/teacher ratio allows personal involvement and support during the critical adolescent years of development.
Facilities
Air conditioning and carpet enhance an older building which provides spacious classrooms and traditional charm. A complete library, music room, computer room, and well-equipped art room are available for student use. St. Peter's students also use McAuley facilities, including the gym and computer lab.
Students
Although St. Peter's is a parochial school, approximately 10 percent of the students are not Catholic. Students come from Joplin and the surrounding communities.
