JOPLIN AREA CATHOLIC SCHOOLS FIVE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN PRESENTATION
Presented by Donna O'Keefe at JACS Parent Meeting 11/14/2007 Committee Members: Purpose of this 5 year plan is to provide the Joplin Area Catholic School Board, Administration and the Development Office with information necessary to establish a direction for growth Diocesan requirement: Goals: Provide an excellent educational program that prepares our students for success in life through solid academic preparation and value system based upon the Roman Catholic tradition. Encourage and coach students to face life challenges by integrating knowledge and faith in their coping and problem-solving strategies. Continue the work and efforts of the marketing committee to promote Catholic School System for enhanced enrollment, participation and financial support. Maintain a curriculum that meets state requirements, all Accreditation requirements and recommendations and meet the expectations of parents and students in terms of quality education. Provide a united effort of school and development boards to promote the success of SCRIP and the annual auction. Develop a priority list of building and facility needs & improvements. Develop a plan whereby, funding sources, whether endowment, life trusts, grants or other sources of money will grow to a magnitude that allows the major focus of the system to be on education, not on funding Develop a means to improve salaries and/or benefits for the staff Maintain educational costs at a level consistent with parents’ ability to pay Develop a sense of pride among parents and students in JACS that will result in a stronger sense of ownership and stewardship Other Components of Plan:

Vision / Direction: Yogi Berra said, "If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere else." We want our efforts to be focused and purposeful. It is the roadmap to lead an organization from where it is now, to where it would like to be … Next step: Board will spend time with the draft plan as submitted and work together to determine the vision and direction the system will follow over the next five years. Then they will develop the roadmap to clarify how those goals and objectives will be met. With God, all things are possible… Believe in our system; Believe in ourselves, and Believe in making it better …
