REMINDER: 1:00 DISMISSAL TODAY! February 03, 2012 Dear Parents, We completed Catholic Schools Week today with “Favorite Storybook Character”. Even though we had many distractions, our students were spiritually blessed in a Mass with the Bishop on Wednesday, and made academic progress in the classroom. Next week, February 10th, we will continue our traditional Friday morning Mass at St. Peter’s Church starting at 8:30am. Mrs. Hosp’s fourth graders will assist Father Justin. Please keep Mrs. Judy Clarkson in your prayers as she recovers from surgery after a fall on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Ellsworth, a certified teacher will be substituting for Mrs. Clarkson while she is out of the classroom. We are happy to have Mrs. Ellsworth, a certified teacher, to substitute for the third grade class. Please put on your calendar to attend a JACS Meeting Wednesday, February 8th at 5:15 in the McAuley gym. Bishop Johnston will be here to speak to us regarding St. Mary’s Parish and school issues. Both fifth grade classrooms will be taking the JACS bus to the Ronald McDonald House on Thursday, February 9th. They will be leaving school at 8:15am and scheduled to return to school at approximately 10:30am. We anticipate a group of parents form Grove interested in our school to be with us at the February 10th Mass followed by a tour of all three schools. They will be representing their children, possibly future students of JACS schools. We need your help! Margie Black has been nominated for the Great American Classroom Makeover. Currently she is one of the top 10 finalists in the running to win $10,000.00, $5,000.00 for her classroom and $5,000.00 for our school! The winner will be determined by online voting beginning Monday, February 6th. Please vote for her every day at www.GAClassroomMakeover.com and ask family and friends to vote as well! ArtFeeds has graciously agreed to work with St. Mary’s students this year to complete the class projects for the JACS Auction. Therefore, the teachers and parents are not responsible for getting these done. However, homeroom parent’s participation is needed in collecting money, supplies, etc. to help fund these projects. There will be more information in the coming weeks. If you are a homeroom parent, email Tracey Goodhope at tgoodhope@wsi-waterjet.com so she has your email address for future correspondence. If you have any questions, you may contact Tracey at 291-0738 as well as on line. We just received word that the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple deadline has been extended to until next Monday, February 6th. All nominations must be received at the Chamber office by 5pm. All St. Mary’s students and parents are encouraged to nominate a deserving teacher. Forms are available on the Chamber website www.joplincc.com. Brochures were sent home in the Communicator January 20th. We have two teachers not eligible because of being past winners. They are Mrs. Taylor (kindergarten) and Mrs. Reeve (grade one). All other teachers are eligible, including Mrs. B. Mrs. / Senora / Coach Black, and Sister Joan. elp her win by voting every day at www.GAClassroomMakeover.comPles
