Jeff Slama Memorial Scholarship Chili Cook-off Fundraiser

Jeff Slama was fatally wounded by a home intruder in October 2013. Jeff was very active in faithful volunteer work following the Joplin tornado in May 2011. He was a supporter of Catholic education in Joplin. Annually, in September, a chili cook-off with dinner is held with the proceeds going to a scholarship for JACS students. Edie’s Angels Scholarship Program

JACS offers a scholarship program to assist with fees and tuition for families of our students. The Edie’s Angels program was created after the 2011 tornado as a result of generous donors who wanted to relieve burdens on families who were affected by the storm. The Edie’s Angels fund is named for one of our donors, a JACS mom, whose husband and two children perished as a result of the storm. The program is currently funded through an annual grant and private donations from individuals.

Family Referral Credit Guidelines

For years, our students and parents have been our best advertisers. They are an invaluable asset who share positive experiences through the simple word of mouth to families, friends, and colleagues.  With our referral program, we hope to repay YOU for your work in referring students to join our school family!

We are pleased to offer a program to increase enrollment and reward existing families for their efforts in promoting our Joplin Area Catholic Schools. How does the program work? Any existing family who’s promotional and referral efforts result in a new family enrolling and attending JACS will receive a one-time tuition credit according to the below conditions.

• Currently enrolled JACS families will earn a $250.00 TUITION CREDIT for a NEW family that enrolls at least one student in grades K-12.
• The tuition credit is per new family enrolled not per new student enrolled.
• The current JACS family will receive the applicable tuition credit AFTER the new family completes one semester of enrollment. If the referring family’s tuition is already fully paid, the credit will be applied to the following year’s tuition. You may also elect to donate the credit to the JACS Scholarship Fund.
• All financial accounts for both families must be current at the time of credit. The credit cannot be applied to any other family accounts (lunch, childcare, etc.).
• The referring family must have at least one student currently enrolled at JACS to be eligible to receive the tuition credit.
• A “New Family” denotes a family that does not currently have a student enrolled in JACS. Newly enrolled siblings of current students do not qualify.
• Enrollments after the start of the school year will result in the referral credit being prorated.
• The referring family will be notified of the new family’s enrollment once the new family has completed the FACTS Enrollment Agreement.
• New families will identify the referring family on the online application in the section “How did you hear about us?” by selecting “Current Family” and entering the referring child or parent’s name in the “Details” field.
• This referral incentive can be earned by any current family, even if they are receiving other tuition deductions and/or financial aid. However, the amount of the tuition assistance plus the referral credit cannot exceed the amount of the annual tuition.
• The tuition credit has no cash value.
• The school administration reserves the right to interpret any aspect of the program, including issues or scenarios that are not specifically covered in this document. The school reserves the right to modify or discontinue this program without notice.
