St. Mary’s Student Life
Student life at St. Mary’s keeps students active with extracurricular clubs and organizations and opportunities that encourage their sense of generosity and thoughtfulness.
- Spelling Bee: Students in grades 4 and 5 participate in the Joplin Globe Spelling Bee
- Math competitions: Students in grade 5 compete in regional math contests
- Enrichment: After school enrichment classes are available throughout the year and highlight STEM activities and experiments.
- Band: Students in 5th grade have the opportunity to join the after school band.
- Theatre: Elementary students often participate in the theatre productions put on at St. Peter’s Middle School and McAuley Catholic. Most recently students were in the productions of Matilda, Jr., Newsies, Jr., and Shrek, Jr.
- Scouts: St. Mary’s offers scouting opportunities with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts.
- Project fair: Students participate annually each spring in a project fair. The projects vary by class ranging from Flat Stanley to Bottle People and more.
- Charity: Each month St. Mary’s students’ giveback to an area non-profit organization with monetary support, donations, and volunteer opportunities.
- Local charities such as the Joplin Humane Society, the Ronald McDonald House, and Joplin’s Outreach House are a few of the organizations that benefit through St. Mary’s generous support.
