Joplin Area Catholic Schools

A pillar in the Joplin community, the Joplin Area Catholic School System (JACS) was founded in 1885 – 12 years after the city was incorporated – by the Sisters of Mercy. The sisters established a school in Joplin and the first hospital in Joplin – now Mercy Hospital Joplin.

 A Full Education

Since the initial school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy, our system has grown and now includes St. Mary’s Elementary School, St. Peter’s Middle School and McAuley High School.

To ensure the development of each child, we educate the whole child: The heart, mind, body and soul.

Our Mission

The Joplin Area Catholic Schools System provides students a strong academic and Catholic faith foundation. Our goal is to teach young people to integrate Christian values into all aspects of life.

We provide students with educational and social skills needed to be active, productive members of the community and Church.

We endeavor to graduate young adults who are effective witnesses to the presence of Christ in the world.

I am thankful for the school (teachers and students) helping me reach my potential. I would not be where I am today if my parents had not sacrificed to send me to St Mary’s, St. Peter’s and McAuley.

Attending the JACS system gave me the opportunity to excel…prepare myself for university level education … grow closer to Christ as an adult … and give back to my community.
